If anyone is interested in taking a more advanced 3D graphics/presentation course for architecture, BCIT has a new PTS course beginning in the Fall. It is going to be really good. I won't be teaching it, but James Insley is an extremely talented instructor who does amazing architectural computer graphic work (former BCIT ABET grad).

BLDG 4425 - Advanced Computer Graphics for Architecture

The course covers advanced techniques for modelling/materials/lighting and rendering using mental ray and 3D Studio MAX, as well as post-production concepts using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator to create high quality professional Architectural presentation media. Prerequisite: BLDG 3405 or approval of instructor. (3 Credits)

Some good architectural firm websites

Battersby Howatt - Old schoolmates from University of Manitoba - both David and Heather are very talented, and do very nice work.

Brian Mckay Lyons - Brian McKay-Lyons is another great contemporary Canadian architect from Halifax

Olson Kundig - Tom Kundig (of Olson Kundig) is one of my favs.

Marcio Kogan - Marcio Kogan - great Brazilian architect...horribly over-designed website

Fearon Hay - a personal (and not well known) favorite of mine from NZ (especially love the Shark Alley House)

Peter Gluck - Was given his book as a gift, and have to admit I hadn't heard of him. Some very interesting projects.

oops

Totally forgot about this blog for quite awhile.

Only just noticed it when I googled 'ABET' and 'BCIT' out of boredom.

Will make a renewed effort to keep this up to date.
